I won't pretend to understand the logic which dictates that the first day of any PHP conference must not be counted as an actual day. Nevertheless, here we are on day two/one (Infinity?) of the php|works conference in Atlanta, GA. I was decidedly less energetic than yesterday morning, but still managed to get up in time for Andrei's keynote presentation "PHP6: A lolcat odyssey" which was wonderfully presented and frakingly misaligned to the synergy of my third presentation (scheduled for tomorrow morning) "PHP::$unicode->i18n;"... That's okay though, I was planning to steal most of it from Andrei anyway...
I spent the next hour learning about "Maintainable PHP Code" (for the most part lamentedly reminiscing on the fact that I've often written quite unmaintainable code), then rolled straight into Derick's presentation on "7 myths about PHP". Somewhere between then and 2:30 I managed to finish my "How PHP Ticks" presentation which I expected to be a dry fraking snore-fest, but actually came out quite cleanly if I do say so myself.
Eventually, the night gave way to the two more terrifying words in the english language; "Open Bar". Now, before anyone starts spreading rumors, let me just clear the air by saying that I was a sober beacon of responsibility ALL NIGHT LONG. Any "evidence" produced in film or podcast form is surely doctored and cannot be trusted (P.S. - Watch for my jumpcut posting of the Norweigen dice-based dricking game later this week)
Post-open-bar came the Ramble Cast, Part Deux (probably won't be up till several days after this blog posting -- sorry Sean). Once again, let me stave off any rumors by saying that I was a pillar of responsibility and Christian values tonight. But nevermind that, the point is, I'm appearantly stronger than Paul.
